Members enjoy an informal meeting with District Governor Lyle Ryan following our regular meeting.

Our club welcomed District Governor Lyle Ryan and his wife PJ (Patricia) Ryan. Assistant District Governor Linda Coyle also attended. DG Ryan has a great sense of fun and great sense of humour as does his wife PJ (Patricia). Their visit was very enjoyable and informative. DG Ryan inducted our newest member Ken Smith and also awarded a Paul Harris to Brian O'Ruairc and Stuart Wilson for their work on the orphanage in Cambodia. Stuart was away on vacation and so missed the presentation.  Lyle also awarded a Special Citation to Derrick Smith and Rick Singh for their dedicated work in the club. Lyle spoke at length on membership and encouraged members not to be shy about Rotary. We should bring up Rotary at least once every day if we can in our conversations with people. Tell people what Rotary has done and, more importantly, what it can also do for potential members. Those who could stay around afterwards  also had a pleasure of an informal meeting with Lyle  following the regular meeting. The informal meeting was very useful and we had a lively discussion on various topics including variations of corporate membership, how and whether bylaws needed to be interpreted liberally or followed to the letter. Most were of the view that bylaws should be given a liberal interpretation. tips on attracting new members and in particular young members. All in all Lyle's visit was great experience for the club and we appreciate his dedication as we were the 55th out of 58 clubs in the district that he has visited.
