Alexandra Neighbourhood House the first 100 Years

​Neil Fernyhough, Manager of Community Programs at Alexandra House was our guest speaker today.

Neil gave a historical overview of Camp Alexandra House and outlined the numerous programs provided through their three neighborhood support centres, Camp Alexandra, Vine Youth & Family Services and Alexandra Children's Centre which are part of 13 Neighborhood houses in Greater Vancouver.   He has no paid people reporting to him but has many volunteers.  The Community Garden being built at 128 St near 24 or 25 Ave is an Alexandra House project.  Alexandra House is 100 years old.  It started as squatters in 1916 but the land is now owned by Camp Alexandra.
